We are excited to announce
HOW IT WORKS
Interested in going to the University of Mary Washington (UMW) ?
If you do not meet their language requirements we are here to help. Once you complete level 10 at ILA you have the opportunity to take college classes on UMW’s campus while completing levels 11 & 12 of the Intensive English Program.
Apply to UMW through ILA !
Upon completion of our English Program (level 12) you will be accepted into UMW the following semester.
Upon admission, international students are automatically considered for a merit scholarship between $1,000 and $9,000 USD based on high school academic record. This scholarship is renewable for up to three additional years of continuous undergraduate study at UMW. Graduates of International Language Academy (ILA) coming to UMW directly are eligible for scholarships.
Scholarships are determined based on the academic record provided with the application for admission. No additional scholarship application is necessary for merit consideration. Scholarship awards will be included in the official offer of admission to the university.
Students completing the ILA to Mary Washington Bridge Program could receive a $6,000 housing scholarship to stay on campus at UMW. In order to qualify for this scholarship, students must enroll in ILA levels 11 or 12 Intensive English Program as appropriate and at least one UMW introductory course each semester. Students may receive this scholarship for no more than two semesters total.
For questions regarding English as a second language education or the ILA to Mary Washington Bridge Program, please contact ILA at 703-712-8002 or email@example.com.
It is much more than just an ESL program
Our bridge program offers much more than just teaching students the English language skills necessary to excel in their studies in the US. With the ILA to Mary Washington Bridge Program, once you complete the Intensive English Program at ILA, you can directly transfer into the University of Mary Washington. While the bridge program facilitates the enrollment process by preparing international students to speak, read, and write English at a high academic level, it also;
Acts as a transitional program beyond the scope of English language learning. Through our use of social interaction as a means of language learning, students will have time to adjust to any cultural differences and barriers they may encounter here in Washington D.C. before they transition into the University of Mary Washington.
International students will already have temporary accommodations, enabling them to smoothly transition into being a student at the University of Mary Washington.
