Dana joined ILA in June of 2012, and brings with her more than 15 years of experience in academic advising, ESL school supervision, and journalism. Dana supervises ILA’s daily operations, class schedules and curriculum and class plan implementation. Dana also leads the Academy’s accreditation process with the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA) and coordinates all accreditation activities, making sure CEA’s standards are maintained throughout the academy’s daily operation. Dana is the Principal Designated Officer with SEVIS, completed her TESOL Core Certificate in 2015, and is a enrolled at Georgetown University where she is currently obtaining her Masters in Leadership
Jaclyn joined ILA in February of 2015 shortly after moving to Virginia from Boulder, Colorado. She graduated from the University of Colorado and has brought over 8 years of administrative experience with her. She does outreach to form and maintain international and domestic relationships to promote the Academy’s growth. Jaclyn help students pick the classes that best fit their learning experience. Marleina (Marly) joined ILA in December of 2016, shorty after moving to Washington D.C. from Florida. She graduated from Florida State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in International Affairs with a specialization in Middle Eastern Studies and Policy. Marly has come to us with several years of combined experience in International education and administration. Being Cuban American, she is especially passionate about assisting students with their transition into American culture. Marleina oversees student services, marketing objectives, and assists in school growth and development.
Jared has come all the way from Australia to join us here at ILA. He holds a Bachelor of Marketing and International Business as well as a Master of Translation and Interpreting (Chinese) and has extensive Marketing and Translation experience. Since arriving in America, Jared has joined the US Australian Football League, where he enjoys teaching Americans the basics of Australian football in Washington D.C.

Dwayne earned his Masters in Education,
Curriculum, and Instruction and has brought
15 years of ESL classroom experience as well
as administrative experience to ILA. In addition to teaching at Evergreen Academy in Annandale, Dwayne was also the School Director. He taught at IGlobal University and several Alexandria Public Schools.
Debra joined ILA in January 2015. She has her Masters in Education and over 15 years of experience in adult education in ESL, GED/Adult Basic Ed. & Workforce Development at the adult education, community college & university level. Her career spans across three states (New Mexico, Maryland, and Virginia) and the District. She has been adjunct faculty/staff at the University of New Mexico, Highlands University (NM), Webster University (NM), Montgomery Community College (MD), Frederick Community College (MD), Columbia College (VA), Virginia International University & The Graduate School of D.C. She has also worked in corporate ESL training for the Washington Language Center in Virginia and has trained ESOL tutors and teachers for the Loudoun Literacy Council, after her tenure as the Director of the ESL & ABE programs.
Caitlin, a proud Virginian who calls South Korea her second home, joined ILA in May 2017. Caitlin began her career in education by chance at the age of 19 as a literacy volunteer. What started as an act of goodwill quickly developed into a love affair with language, education, and international culture. After completing her BA in Cultural Anthropology at James Madison University, Caitlin took off to Asia where she instructed English for several years. A true teacher-of-all-trades, Caitlin has successfully taught several niche subjects in additional to core subjects, such as GED English, Life Skills, Business English, Public Speaking and Presentations, Conversational English, and English Literature.
David is a recent NoVa transplant from Colonial Heights, VA. He graduated from the College of William and Mary in 2011 with a degree in Linguistics. Having a passion for travel and other languages and cultures he immediately left the United States after graduation to pursue teaching English as a Second Language to Japanese nationals in Tokyo, Japan. After spending many years abroad experiencing first-hand the challenges and difficulties faced as a foreigner in a nation very different from one’s own, David returned to the United States to continue in the Education field. He brings with him a unique sense of understanding the importance in acclimating to and assimilating the language and culture by which one is surrounded hoping to make the transition to life in the United States easier for foreign people who choose to make this their home
Brandy joined ILA in October 2018. With a background in Anthropology, she feels that language learning is enhanced through cultural exchange. Since 2012, Brandy has taught English with various non-profit and community organizations in Virginia and D.C. Her work in refugee resettlement ignited her passion for teaching and supporting students, who have recently arrived in the US. Brandy obtained her Masters of Science in Education in 2017, with a focus in College Teaching. She is honored to use what she has learned to support students at ILA in pursuing their personal, professional, and academic goals.
